Copyright Registration

Copyright registration protects works of authorship, such as writings, music, architectural designs, computer software, and two- and three-dimensional works of art that have been tangibly expressed. Copyrights protect an artist, composer or author's unique expression of an idea, not the idea itself. Works are deemed copyrighted even without registration. Should your work be infringed, however, you will only be entitled to statutory damages and a potential award of attorney's fees if your work was registered prior to the act of infringement. Copyright registrations last for the life of the author plus 70 years.

The Colorado law offices of Thomas P. Howard, LLC provide copyright registration services with the United States Copyright Office for a flat fee of $495, plus applicable filing fees charged by the Copyright Office. Thomas P. Howard, LLC's flat fee covers a review of the copyrighted work, preparation of the copyright application, and filing the application with the United States Copyright Office on your behalf.
